William S. McCain Jr.

William S. McCain Jr. died May 29, 2025. He was 82 years old. Bill was born on January 15, 1943 in Niles, Michigan, to William S. McCain Jr. and Wanda Lucille McCain.
Bill graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1961, and afterwards had a successful career working for Hollywood Market for 50 years. Many of those years were spent managing the store of maple Road in Troy. In his retirement, he filled the time with fishing and visiting friends and relatives, traveling in Michigan and even working part-time at Walmart in the tire department.
On June 1, 1979, Bill married Kay Hejna Gill, and started the adventure of a lifetime of love.
Like every Detroiter, Bill was a big Tigers fan, lived and died with the Lions, and spent several years supporting Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars and the Bad Boys. Bill loved to fish, cook on the hunting trips, sit around the fire, play cards and spend time with his large and loving family.
His mom, Wanda McCain, was his guiding light and he did anything and everything to help her. His greatest attribute was becoming a friend to everyone he met. He participated in events in his community, on condominium boards, and in work related training sessions and seminars.
He went out of his way to be helpful and kind to anyone who needed help- from hand delivering groceries to painting a room. He showed calmness, common sense and kindness to all. He has touched the lives of many and left a mark with each of them. He was loved.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kay McCain; his children, William McCain III, and Sandi (Tony) Frischcosy; his siblings, Sharon (Larry) Littleson, Terry (Phyllis) McCain, Cynthia (Mark) Dietrich, Janice (Richard) McGough, Donna (Dale) Gillespie, Denise (Bob) Tonkoshkur and Scott (Robbin) McCain; and his grandsons, Nick and Joey Frischcosy.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Friday, June 6th from 3pm-8pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd., Clawson. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, Saturday, June 7th, at 11am. Friends may begin visiting at 10:30am.
