William Earl Moody Obituary
William Earl Moody, age 86, of Olla, Louisiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1939, to Edgar and Willie Mae Moody.
William was a graduate of LaSalle High School, Class of 1957, and remained proud of his roots and community throughout his life. He devoted 39 years of service to Hunt Petroleum, working in the Olla/Jena field, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication.
William was a faithful member of Olla First Baptist Church, where he had been a member since 1959. His love for the Lord and his church family was evident to all who knew him.
William was preceded in death by his first wife, Aliece Moody; his parents, Edgar and Willie Mae Moody; his son, Keith Moody; his stepson, Jayson Lowery; and his brothers, Jimmy Moody and Charlie Moody.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ruby Moody; daughters Kim Hitt and Stacy Duke (Timmy); sister Sue Baker; sister-in-law Camille Denson; and daughter-in-law Selena Lowery.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Connor Hitt, Tyler Hitt, Caine Duke, Jayde Lowery Ates (Daniel), Lizzie Lowery, BreAnna Lowery, and Millie Moody; and his great-grandchildren, Remi, Emmory, and Rylynn. William also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
William loved traveling, reading, collecting, and shopping for bargains. He was a gifted storyteller, known for his infectious smile and warm spirit—if you ever met William, you never forgot him.
Above all, William had a deep and unwavering love for Jesus Christ. His faith was evident in every part of his life, and he took great joy in sharing the gospel.
Pallbearers will be Connor Hitt, Tyler Hitt, Caine Duke, Bart McGuffee, Justin Mapp, Joshua Mapp, and Brad Denson. Honorary pallbearers are Devin Seaward, Melvin Worthington, Freddie Shepard, and Lonnie Dunn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wayne Barksdale and his staff for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2025 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Olla. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Olla. Visitation will be on Friday January 9, 2026 at the church from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
