William J. Morvay

William John Morvay, 83, passed away on November 17, 2024, in Cedarville, NJ. Born on August 14, 1941, in Bridgeton, NJ, he grew up working alongside his family at Morvay's Market, until it's closing in 1985. Bill entered the Admiral Farragut Academy in 1955, and was an honor student that graduated 3rd in his class with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Bill honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 thru 1965 as a submariner, and served on the USS Lafayette SSBN 616.
Bill graduated from Glassboro State College in 1969 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree, majoring in General Elementary Education. Bill started his teaching career at Reber School in Vineland and after a career spanning 30 years, retired from Fairfield Township School District.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Morvay, and sons from his first marriage to Judi Morvay, William John Morvay II and his wife Janet Morvay, and Shawn Morvay. His brother Ed Morvay and wife Darlene Morvay, and sister Michele Murray and husband Joe Murray. Barbara's children Tammy, Rebecca, Tina, Brian and Pete, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was a voracious reader, model hobbyist, bear collector enthusiast and animal lover, especially his many dogs over the years. A short list for an extraordinary man with many different facets.
After decades of inspiration, love and support, Bill will be sorely missed by all of those that knew him. A good man, with a good heart, who loved his family and never turned anyone in need away.
