William J. O'Neill Jr., 84, of Burlington, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Bristol Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie (Mathews) O'Neill. William was born on December 31, 1940, in Waterbury and was the son of the late William J. and Alice (Bergamo) O'Neill Sr. William proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft after over 40 plus years as a general foreman. Although William retired from Pratt, he always found time to get together with former co-workers at Kizl's for laughs and reminiscing of their former work tales. In his younger days, William loved to play tennis. He also enjoyed going to the casino, watching the Red Sox, and cheering for the WNBA and UConn Women's Basketball Teams. However, it was spending time with his family that truly made his day and something he always looked forward to. Besides his wife of nearly 58 years, Bonnie, William is survived by his 3 children; his son Bret O'Neill and his wife Dorothy of North Carolina, and also by his two daughters; Brooke Pappalardo of Southington and Becky Herrick of Port St. Lucie, Fl. He was a doting grandfather to Hannah O'Neill, Matthew and Evan Pappalardo, Bella Herrick, Abby, William and Evie O'Neill and Jason, John, Kathryn Pattison and James Clayton. He was also a brother to Richard O'Neill of Rhode Island, Peter O'Neill and his wife Robyn of Wolcott, Judy O'Neill of Waterbury, Mary Verdosci of Thomaston and Rita O'Donnel of Waterbury and several nieces, nephews and good friends. William was predeceased by his sister, Alice O'Neill. All services for William will be held privately and there will be no calling hours.
