RIVES, William Cabell III, 75, of Southport, N.C., died March 29, 2009. Mr. Rives was born June 14, 1933 in McKenney, Virginia, and was the son of the late William Cabell Rives Jr. and Cecil Hargrave Rives. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Rives earned a BA at Hampden-Sydney College of Virginia. He was a business development manager with Cigna prior to his retirement. He and his wife, Linda, moved to the St. James community of Southport in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Linda Shaw Rives; a son, William Cabell Rives IV and wife, Michelle Marie Rives, of Herndon, Va.; a daughter, Susan Rives Tiefel and husband, Alex Tiefel, of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Lukas Rives Tiefel, Kathleen Valaika Rives, Rachel Cabell Rives. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at The Church of the Good Shepard, McKenney, Va. (Lew Jones Road). Interment will follow in the Rives Family Burial Ground. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. James Chapel Library Fund, 3620 St. James Dr. Southport, N.C. 28461. You may offer condolences at www.peacocknewnamwhite.com.
