John Edward Wright Jr. of Dover, NH passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 13, 2023.
John was born on March 21, 1937, and raised in Springfield, MA by his parents John Edward Wright and Hazel Hopkins Wright.
John was a quiet and kindhearted man. He was an avid runner and walker. He enjoyed day trips to walk and explore NH. He was a family man. He enjoyed spending time with his children, Jim and Tara, and his grandchildren Auston and Morningstar.
He was a son to John Edward Wright and Hazel Hopkins Wright. He was a student earning degrees at Springfield College and Boston College. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves. He was a father to Tara Lynne and James Andrew Wright.
He was an educator and administrator in the Malden Public School system in Malden, Massachusetts from 1971 through his retirement in 1998. He served as Principal and teacher at Browne Junior High School, Vice Principal at Malden High School, and after the death of his dear friend and colleague, Arthur Boyle, as Principal of Malden High School from 1984 through his retirement in 1998.
John's family called him Jack, and his grandchildren called him Papa Jack. Those who knew him, knew him as a kind, gentle, patient and loving soul. His drive, passion, and energy will be truly missed.
John is predeceased by his parents John Edward Wright and Hazel Hopkins Wright.
He is survived by his loving children, Tara and Jim, and by his grandchildren, Auston and Morningstar.
A Memorial service will be held on May 27th at 11am at the Community Church of Durham 17 Main Street, Durham, NH. Dad requested that his service wait for warm weather, and with everyone in casual comfortable attire. All are welcome.
