RANTOUL- William Richard Sheetz, 91, of Rantoul, Illinois passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana.
He retired from the United States Air Force with 24 ½ years of service.
He was born March 3, 1931, in Bridgeton, Indiana to the late Joseph William Sheetz and Mary Ethel Wilson Sheetz.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Shirley Ann Scott Sheetz whom he married September 2, 1957, in Terre Haute, Indiana; one daughter, Kari (Matthew) Piece of Florissant, Missouri; one son, Scott (Karen) Sheetz of Rockville; one brother, Lynn (Jeanie) Crothers and one sister, Lillian Akers both of Lapaz Indiana; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenny, Jim and John Sheetz and four sisters, Loretta Stultz, Mary Thompson, Bertha Sheetz and Marjorie Bradfield.
He was a graduate of Bridgeton High School. He was a lifetime member of the Bridgeton Masonic Lodge. He loved to garden and spend time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W Howard Street, Rockville. Inurnment with military graveside honors will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10 at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.
