William Sitnik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. - Hopewell Junction on Mar. 21, 2025.
William Edward "Bill" Sitnik, son of Jane and Joseph, passed away Saturday March 15, 2025, in the presence of family at the age of 85. The native of New Jersey was an alumnus of Georgetown University and the University of Arizona. Born with a wanderlust, he traveled extensively before settling down in North Carolina, where he continued his vocation as a substance abuse counselor guiding recovery for those in New Bern, Pinehurst and Rockingham. In retirement he worked as a hospice volunteer, continued his long involvement with the AA community, and enjoyed exploring the National Parks of the Western U.S. which, along with snorkeling in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, was particularly meaningful to him. An avid photographer he began photographing sporting events at Cranwell Preparatory in the Berkshires for the school newspaper and continued taking photos throughout his life capturing the wonder and beauty he found in nature. He is survived by his older brother, Stan; his partner, Bonnie Corcoran; stepson, Richard Corcoran; stepdaughter, Patsy and her husband, Rodney Shinn; his former wife Eileen, their daughter Jan, son-in-law Randy and two grandchildren Jasmine and Eric. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Raymond. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1517 Luther Way, Southern Pines, NC 28387. Memorial donations are requested to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 ( www.hvhospice.org ).
