William David Skyles passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 11, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born June 26, 1940 to Charles and Edna (Stough) Skyles and grew up in Rolla, MO. David married Barbara Moreland on June 4, 1960. Three children were born to David and Barbara. Barbara preceded David in death after 31 years of marriage. David remarried Rose (Waterman) Green on January 9, 1993. Rose preceded David in death after 32 years of marriage.
David was also preceded in death by Charles and Edna Skyles, Edgar and Lorene Moreland, and Andy and Dorothy Waterman, son-in-law, Dan Cartwright, and many other family members and friends.
David enjoyed fishing, gardening, hockey, baseball, and beekeeping but most of all being with his family. David was an active lifetime member of First Assembly of God Rolla.
David is survived by his son, DeWayne Skyles and wife Cathy, grandchildren, Brandon Skyles and wife Amy, Brittany (Skyles) Frazee and husband Randy, Samantha Skyles, Charles Skyles and Rebecca (Skyles) Blair and husband Dawson, great grandchildren Ethan Skyles and wife, Torie, Gracie Skyles, McKenzie and Ryleigh Hanshew, Hadley Blair, Baby Blair August 2025 and Great Great Grandchild Kyrie Jackson. Son Eugene Skyles and wife Chris, grandchildren Lindsay (Skyles) Davis and husband Justin and Jared Skyles and wife Kenda, great grandchildren Mason and Reid Davis, Jace and Huntleigh Skyles. Daughter Debbie (Skyles) Cartwright, Granddaughter Heather (Matlock) Furse and husband Sylvester, great grandchildren Ryker and Kanon Furse.
Stepson Greg Green and wife Sherida, step grandchildren Evan Green, Alyssa Albers and husband Josh and Dawson Havens. Stepson Brad Green, step grandchildren Hayden Green and wife Ali, Tanner Green and wife Chloe, Walker and Gibson Green, step great granddaughter Charlie Green. Stepdaughter Christine (Green) White and husband Andy, grandchildren Rorry White (Prahl) and husband Devin, Parker White and wife Jordan, step great granddaughter Presley Deason. Stepdaughter Vanessa (Green) Higgins and husband Todd, Step grandchildren Lacey and Luke Higgins.
A funeral service for William David Skyles will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the First Assembly of God, 1608 N. Oak St. in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Pea Ridge Cemetery in Doolittle, MO. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at First Assembly of God.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
