William (Bill) Charles Van Fleet, age 80, of Dandridge, Tennessee, fell asleep in deathon October 11, 2025, as described in John 11:11–14.
He is survived by his wife, Gem-May (Meeks); sons Timothy (Jennifer McQuade) and Tad (Jennifer Hubbard); and grandchildren Danielle, Alex, and Samson. Bill and
Gem-May were happily married for 60 years, building a life together filled with love, laughter, and faith. He is also survived by his sister, Betty (George) Lowers; sister-in-law,
Marge Van Fleet; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mildred (Coby) Van Fleet, and brother, Stephen Roger Van Fleet.
Born in Petersburg, WV, Bill lived most of his life in Baltimore County, MD, where he worked and retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1999. After retirement, he fulfilled his
lifelong dream of living in the mountains by the water, moving with his family to Dandridge, TN. Bill was a tireless worker, generous provider, and devoted family man. Known for his
warm smile and kind heart, he brought joy to everyone he met. He loved entertaining friends, sharing the good news of God's Kingdom, and spending time with his family.
Bill was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on May 3, 2014, a day he held especially dear. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family trips, cookouts, woodworking, and
cars-especially his '57 Corvette. Bill's happiest moments were with his grandchildren. Pop was beloved by all and will be deeply missed until we see him again in the new system.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 761 E. Dumplin Valley Road, Jefferson City, TN 37760. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
