William Watt Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 19, 2024.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS - William John "Bill" Watt Jr., 82, passed away in his home on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2024 in the Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Interment Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite A, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Bill was born March 9, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, to William John "Scotty" Watt, Sr. and Ayesha Watt. He attended Northside High School before moving to Colby, Kansas, where he graduated and then attended Arizona State on a wrestling scholarship. Bill graduated from Kansas State University. He married Jana Dee "Jan" Melton, and they were married 56 years before her passing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Jan Watt.
Bill is survived by his children, daughter, Ann Farho (Lou); son, Rod Watt (Tracie); and daughter, Stacy Hoelscher (Paul); grandchildren, Taylor Feehan (Conor), Kaitlin Lenox (Jacob), Rachel Johnson (Will), Zach Farho, Noah Farho, Logan Watt (Erica), Lauren Watt, Olivia Jacoby, Reed Hoelscher (Grace) and Jordan Hoelscher; and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, Eleanor, Liam and Brooklynn.
From an early age, Bill enjoyed competing in sports and working in farming and agriculture. He showed in 4H in Fort Worth, where this early exposure instilled a lifelong passion for supporting the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. After college and a successful career in sales and management, in 1975, Bill opened the first of many furniture stores in Tarrant County. Bill was best known for being a successful entrepreneur in the retail furniture industry for five decades, serving the DFW metroplex and owning and operating multiple locations. Anything Bill embarked on, he did with an unparalleled work ethic and his whole heart. The love and support Bill had for his family was unwavering. He entertained them and his friends, coworkers, and clients with his sense of humor, candor, and storytelling. Bill's love for a good prank and his insistence on doing things the right way, his way, were all part of his endearing personality. We find comfort in knowing he was ready to be reunited with the love of his life, Jan.

I am very sorry to hear about Bill. Bill took a chance on a kid in high school and hired me back in 92 and I worked for him through high school until my early 20s. I will always remember the laughter and the check in calls "so what´s going on?" Are the guys selling? It always made me laugh. Thoughts and Prayers for the family.

One time when we were visiting them at Fort Worth, he and dad were hunting frogs (for frog legs for lunch) and he caught a water moccasin. He was going to demonstrate how he had seen some of the ranch hands pop the head off them by snapping them like a whip. After a couple of tries, he finally used a shovel.

The summer that Bill stayed with us to help dad with the farming during harvest and he slept in my room across from me and I would wake up in the morning with odd items in my bed. He was throwing them at me because I was snoring!
