William Joseph Yott Jr.

William Joseph Yott Jr.; age 88, a long-time resident of Lake Orion, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 3, 2025. Beloved husband of Judy for 59 years; loving father of William J. Yott III, Michael (Pam) Yott, Joseph (Lynn) Yott, Robert Yott, Patricia (Dean) Hartzell, and Michelle (Todd) Teeter; proud grandfather of Michael, Jacob, Chloe (Anthony) Madelyn (Hunter), Mya, Mason, Joseph (Andrea), Jaycie (Steven), Letay, and the late Adam; great-grandfather of Eli, Baker, and Luke; dear brother of Glenna (late John) Reno.
Bill grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Precious son of Dr. William J Yott Sr. and Roberta. He attended U of D Jesuit High School and Xavier University, pre-med, before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1956. He was the proud owner of Metropolitan Publishing Co. in Troy, Michigan for nearly 50 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed the game of golf and gab. He was known for his story telling and his passion for golf. Bill was the President of Paint Creek Country Club for many years, where he also lovingly played Santa at the annual Christmas party. He was also a member of Boulder Pointe Golf Club.
The family will receive friends at Modetz Funeral Home, Orion, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 3pm to 8pm and Thursday, December 11th, 10am until time of service.
A funeral service with military honors for William will be held on Thursday, December 11th, 10:30 a.m. at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell Rd., Orion, Michigan.
The family will honor William in a private ceremony on Friday, December 12, 2025. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
