Willie H. Nichols

Willie Hamilton Nichols, age 83, of Twining, MI., passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Willie was born on March 23, 1942, at the family home in Twining to the late Robert and Sylvia (Trotter) Nichols and he was one of five children.
Willie married the love of his life, Sandra "Sandy" (Hunt) Nichols on July 27, 1963. That date also happens to be her birthday. Willie worked for R.E. Glancy Inc as a heavy equipment operator where they specialized in road construction. He retired from that career after 30 years.
Willie attended Arenac Eastern Schools where he excelled in sports, especially basketball, football and track. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and loved deer hunting too. He enjoyed watching many sports, from local to college to professional. He also liked playing the slot machines at the casinos. His family will say that he would bet on anything and everything for fun. He was a country music fan too. Conway Twitty and Randy Travis were two of his favorites. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Willie is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Sheryl (Gary) Brock, Sheila (Jarred) Reitz, Willie Nichols; brothers, Clifton (Mary Lou) Nichols, Harland (Susan) Nichols; sister, Lula Bell Short; grandchildren, Matthew Laney, Kevin (Kelsey) Laney, Kyle Laney, Nick (Andrea) Rietz, Allison (Cameron) Demann; 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Nichols.
Family will hold services for Willie at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining. Visitation on Sunday, November 23, 2025, 1:00pm – 6:00pm. Funeral on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 12:00pm with interment to follow at Cedar Vally Cemetery. Rick Rockwell will be officiating.
