Willie Roscoe Springs, Jr., affectionately known as "Roscoe," "Skol," "Boston Black," and "Willie Boy," was born on June 8, 1953, to the late Ethelyn Cleo and Willie Roscoe Springs Sr. On December 2, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom called Roscoe to his eternal rest, granting him his heavenly wings. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend-a cornerstone of love and strength for the Springs family.
Roscoe's life was a testament to his deep faith and love for family. Raised in the church, he sang with joy and devotion in the choir and praise team at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Later, he became a member of Living Faith Christian Center, where his unwavering faith in God continued to guide and strengthen his journey.
A true athlete and scholar, Roscoe had a passion for football that earned him the honor of being captain of the Norfolk State Spartan Football Team as a walk-on. His determination led to a full scholarship, and he proudly graduated with a BA in Electrical Engineering. This achievement paved the way for an illustrious career, taking him across the globe to France, Spain, China, Japan, Germany, and the Republic of Korea as a field engineer and trainer. He was also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he fostered lasting bonds of brotherhood.
Roscoe's vibrant spirit was evident in everything he did. He lit up every room with his radiant presence, engaging conversation, spirited dance moves, and heartwarming smile. His warmth, humor, and zest for life were unparalleled, making him a light in every life he touched. He often shared his favorite wisdom: "If you know the problem, find the solution," a mantra that defined his resilience and character. His love for his family and friends was boundless, and he created countless treasured memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son Christopher; brothers, Cecil, Horace, and Ron; sisters, Lynnell and Sonia; and mother-in-law Eva Wormley.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in the hearts of his beloved wife Brigette; sons, Kareem and Khalid (Nina); stepchildren, Synethia (Jason) Kelli (Jason), and Sohn; grandchildren, Sidney, Kourtney, Kylie, Lauryn, Amelia, Milan, Suniya, Jayce, Psalm; beloved "sidekick" Landon; nieces, Channing (Trae), Ayra, Katrice, Ashley (Renaldo), Cheryl (Drew), and Marlena; nephews, Shawn, Trevor (Twana), and Sohn; sisters-in-law, Adriane, Louise, and Wendy; goddaughter Teyana; long-time friend Lynnette (Warden); father-in-law Robert Wormley; and a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Mr. Springs may be viewed on Wednesday beginning at Noon.
