Windie Rochelle Combs gained her wings on Friday, August 8, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1959, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Johnny C. Marshall Jr and Barbara R. Marshall.
Windie grew up in the Oakwood neighborhood of Norfolk, VA, and attended Norfolk Public Schools. In high school, she was an elite member of the Norview High School marching band, where she played the clarinet. After graduating from Norview High, at the tender age of 18, Windie married Dawford "Robert" Combs in November 1977. Within their union, they were blessed with two sons, Rob Jr and Byron Combs. Windie took great pride in being a military wife and mother, and she will be missed dearly.
In addition to her husband and sons, Windie is survived by two sisters, Robin Marshall and Veronica Washington (James); brother, Johnny C. Marshall, III; 12 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
