In the early hour of July 3, 2025, Winona M. Marshall was welcomed into the arms of two precious people she held so dear to her heart, Jesus Christ her lord and savior and her loving husband Lionel "Buck", with her family by her side. Calling hours will be held on July 8, 2025 from 10:30am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm at the Frary Funeral Home in Malone. Mass of Christian burial will be held on July 9 at 11am at St. Mary's church Brushton with Father Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will take place immediately after in St. Mary's Cemetery Brushton, with a reception, at the Brushton American Legion, following. Winona was born on December 19, 1927 in Dickinson Center to the late Donald and Beatrice (Jesmer) Richards. From an early age, Winona would help out where ever she could on her family's farm. Growing up on the farm came with long days. On school days, she would be up and have the cows milked before she went to school at St. Regis Falls Central until she graduated. After graduating she went to work for the slipper factory in Malone. On June 25, 1948 Winona married the love of her life Lionel "Buck" Marshall at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls. Having had an outstanding work ethic instilled in her at a young age she could not remain still, so she went to work at Sunmount as kitchen help. Winona and family lived in numerous places around the country while Lionel worked on hydro projects. Winona later worked at Marshall Brother's Construction as the bookkeeper until she retired in 1989. Then she moved on to be a cook for St. Regis Falls Meals on Wheels. Winona also volunteered for Hospice of the North Country. Winona is survived by her sons; Carl (Elizabeth) of Malone, Thomas (Melanie) of Cape Coral Fl., Timothy (Linda) of Moira, Richard (Debbie) of Massena, and Daniel of Massena, her daughters; Donna Nielsen of Boise Id., and Sylvia Sheldon of Fairport, NY., her beloved grandchildren; Erica, Mark, Sean, Kristen, Martha, Trisha, Lucas, Aimee, Vanessa, Audrey, Emily, Nathan, and Daniel, her great grandchildren; Leif, Landon, Lilly, Sofia, Katie, Leah, Ariana, Ethan, and Harper, her sister; Donna Chambers of Massena, along with hundreds of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, brothers; Phillip, Bernard, and Andrew, her sisters Dorothy Jandrew, and Reba Lemieux. Winona loved to spend her time playing cards and dominos, sewing, quilting, gardening, square and ballroom dancing with Buck, as members of the Moonshine Square Dance Club and Button and Bows in Englewood, Florida, serving her church as a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and spending time with family and friends. Winona's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Sister Mary Ann Gour and Nicole and the other members of Hospice of the North Country for their support during this difficult time. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Mary's Brushton or Hospice of the North Country. Online condolences can be made to the family by visiting www.fraryfuneralhome.com.
