Mr. Wiseman was born on May 6, 1934, in Petrolia, Texas, where he spent his formative years, ultimately graduating high school in 1952. He then pursued his passion for geology, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1956.

Shortly after completing his studies, Dave enlisted in the Army in 1957, serving honorably in the Tank Battalion stationed in Schollbach, Germany for two years. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to a successful career in the oil and gas industry. Dave worked diligently for Amerada Corporation, which later became Amerada Hess, where his roles as a field engineer and geologist took him across Wyoming, Montana, Texas, and Louisiana.

It was during his time in Morgan City, Louisiana, in the mid-1960s that Dave and his wife, Chris, discovered their profound love for the Cajun culture. Embracing this passion, they relocated to New Iberia in 1968 when the opportunity to work for Texaco presented itself. Dave devoted the remainder of his career there, retiring in 1998 after many fulfilling years.

After retiring, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He delighted in fishing and traveling with Chris, exploring breathtaking corners of the world together. Their adventures took them to Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Italy, Greece, France, the UK, Ireland, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries. These experiences were deeply enriched by the companionship of their closest friends from New Iberia, including Donald and Catherine Segura and Frank and Marlene Cucio, with whom they shared countless cherished memories.

Dave and Chris made many treasured friendships during their years in New Iberia, forging bonds that lasted a lifetime. Together, they passionately supported the LSU Tigers, attending both football and baseball games, where their enthusiasm brought them even closer to their community.

The journey through life was not without its heartache. The loss of their son, Bruce, in 1979 was a sorrow that reshaped their lives, yet they found comfort and solace as dedicated members of Highland Baptist Church. They followed their beloved pastor, Dr. Steve Horn to First Baptist Church in Lafayette, where they continued to nurture their faith and community ties.

Mr. Wiseman is survived by nephews and nieces, Larry Barnes of Muskogee, OK, Kent Barnes of Gainesville, TX, Angela Christine Beavers Anderson (Derek) of Montgomery, TX, and Lesha Beavers Griffin (Buddy) of Texarkana, TX; sister-in-law, Betty Richardson Beavers of Montgomery, TX; grand nephews and nieces, Lacie Christine Anderson Carroll (Chad), Hannah Caroline Anderson, Katie Hixon (Aaron), Zach Anderson, and Brad Griffin (Savannah); and great-grand-nephews, Easton and Zeke Griffin.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Anita "Chris" Richardson Wiseman; son, Michael Bruce Wiseman; parents, Worley Edward and Velma Shaw Wiseman; sister, Bobbie Wiseman Barnes (Daryl); and brother-in-law, Gaylan Beavers.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Meyers, Adam Meyers, Andrew Meyers, Butch Carter, Donald Segura, Frank Cucio, and Ronnie Broussard.

The family would like to thank all who kept Dave in your prayers over the past few years, especially Allister Meyers and her entire prayer warrior circle. Special thanks to Joyce Linzer and Tomekia Vital who took wonderful care of Dave ("PaDave/Pop") for the past 7+ years; you are true caregivers who prepared him well for reuniting with Chris, Bruce, Gaylan, Bobbie, and his mom and dad in heaven. God is good, and has reunited this family together in heaven for eternity.

Worley David Wiseman leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and adventure that will be forever remembered. May he rest in peace.
