Yolanda DeRosso Lain was reunited with her beloved Aldo in eternal peace on August 16, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on June 8, 1927, in Fairpoint, OH, she was the third of five children born to Italian immigrants Giovanni DeRosso and Maria Pizzolato DeRosso. When Yolanda was four years old, her parents moved the family back to Northern Italy to escape the Great Depression, settling in the town of Schio, where Yolanda spent her childhood and early adult years. At age 11, she met Aldo, the boy next door, who would become the love of her life and, eventually, her husband. In 1949, after their wedding, Yolanda and Aldo moved to the United States to begin their life together. They initially settled in Union City, NJ, before moving into a family home in Palisades Park, NJ, where they raised their four children. Once the kids were of school age, Yolanda worked outside the home in the textile industry for companies such as Interstate Rayon Yarns and Anton Robeson Textile Co. A skilled seamstress, she not only sewed clothes for her family but also crafted window drapes and home furnishings. Yolanda also had a beautiful singing voice, often heard during Mass at St. Michael's Church, just as it had been in her youth choir in Italy. Each summer, her garden would overflow with tomatoes-carefully planted and nurtured by her-that were eagerly anticipated by all who were lucky enough to receive a bag to take home. Above all, Yolanda's greatest joy came from her home and the time spent with family. Her sisters were her closest lifelong confidants, and together they shared countless family gatherings. Whether they were ballroom dancing at the Italian Cooperative, taking trips to Atlantic City, attending weekly church bingo outings, or simply enjoying each other's company around the dining room table, Yolanda was happiest when surrounded by loved ones. She will be especially remembered for her warm hospitality-always insisting that guests sit and enjoy a meal. Her invitations to sit and eat made everyone feel welcome and could not be refused. Yolanda was predeceased by her husband Aldo, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, as well as her siblings Santo and his wife Nella, Angela and her husband Severino, Lydia and her husband Narci, brother-in-law John Delle Tezze, and sons-in-law Bill Bonnar and Fred Poulos. She is survived by her sister Teresa Delle Tezze; her daughters Suzy Bonnar, Lorraine Lain Jennings and her husband Stephen, and MaryAnn Poulos; and her son Aldo Jr. and his wife Roni; as well as her beloved grandchildren: Peter Bonnar and his wife Amy, Jeff Bonnar, Brian Bonnar and his fiancée Saziye Mustafa, Giovanna Poulos, Thomas Lain, and Krystan Williams and her husband Michael. Yolanda is also survived by three great-grandchildren-Emma, Adalia, and Elliot-as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children.
