Zachary J. Johns

Zachary Joe Johns, 38, of Edmond passed peacefully on Saturday March 26, 2022. He was born on September 25, 1983, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Debbie (Schmitz) and David Johns. He was the second oldest of three children. As a teen he received confirmation from St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Zach attended Moore schools and graduated from Westmoore High School with the class of 2002, although the classes before also claimed him as their own.
After graduating high school and starting his career as a mechanic, Zach's life path took him to Stroud, OK where much of his family lived. His knowledge of machinery and engines landed him a job at Miller Truck Lines. Zach worked in many capacities of the business during his years there including dispatch, load planning, and managing the paint and body shop.
On December 15, 2011, Zach was blessed with a son, Maverick, the apple of his eye. He enjoyed taking him to fun centers, outdoor adventures, and spending hours upon hours building Legos. When they couldn't be together, Zach could be found facetiming and sharing long talks with Maverick.
His brothers talk of the full life Zach lived. He was stubborn, opinionated, steadfast, caring, loving, protective, and extremely loyal. He enjoyed working on anything with a motor. He loved his cars and trucks, especially his Ford Super Duty. His grandparents talk of how extremely handy he was installing multiple appliances. No job was too big.
Zach moved to Edmond in 2014 where he attended LifeChurch and loved spending time with his son, brothers, and family. He was loved and loved well.
In addition to his son Maverick, Zachary leaves behind his loving mother, Debbie; his brothers, Micah Johns and wife Melissa of Del City and Caleb Johns of Edmond; niece and nephew, Madelynn and Cole Johns; his grandparents, Bob and Dot Schmitz of Stroud; aunts and uncles, Alan (Beth) Schmitz of Tulsa; Twana Schmitz of Tulsa, Patty (Jimmy) Miller of Stroud, Susie (Pat) Harrison of Bradenton, FL, Paul T., Carl and Phil Johns of Stroud as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Zach was preceded in death by his father, David Johns; his paternal grandparents, Paul and Pauline Johns; and uncle, Randy Schmitz.
Zach's funeral will be held at 2:00pm on April 7th, 2022, in Moore, OK at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 S. Broadway Ave.
