Barbara A. Link of Blanchard, Oklahoma, was called home to the Lord on June 22, 2024 at the age of 81. She was born on December 5, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joe and Ruby Keegan.
Barbara graduated in 1960 from Southeast High School where she was active in Thespians and Student Council. When her children were young, she was actively involved as a homeroom mother, Cub Scout leader, Campfire leader, and PTA treasurer and president. Working closely with students and teachers was so gratifying, she decided to return to school and further her education. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1979 and a Masters degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1982. Barbara worked as a school teacher at Moore Central Mid High and Westmoore High School for a combined twenty-two years. During her career, she taught English, gifted and talented, creative writing, speech, and AP/honors classes, and was the English Department Chair from 1982 until her retirement in 2001.
Barbara was a faithful member at Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and, later, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. She was an active volunteer for the Cancer Care and Grief Share groups at Woodland Hills, donating many gifts of support and care for those in need.
Barbara loved children and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking special treats and watching the Wizard of Oz with her granddaughters. At home, she spent time reading, gardening, and sewing, and belonged to book club, bunco, and bowling groups. She loved travel and the opportunities it brought to learn about unfamiliar places while on road trips with her husband Tommy, family vacations, and work conferences. She also enjoyed attending live performances and plays.
She may be best remembered for her devotion to her family, compassion, courage, determination, resourcefulness, and the ability to see the potential in others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by husband of 63 years, Tommy Link, children Angela Link (Brian) and Aaron Link, grandchildren Magan Williams (Justin) and Kiera Link, and great grandchild Koepka Williams. She is preceded in death by parents Joe and Ruby Keegan, and grandchild Cameron Link.
