Arthur W. "Art" Chick, age 50, a Naperville, IL resident since 2004, formerly of Schererville, IN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 16, 2017. He was born October 25, 1966 in Hammond, IN. Beloved father of Sayre and Duncan Chick, devoted son of the late William G. and Patricia Chick; dear brother of Natalie (Douglas) Rivich of Chesterton, IN and Madonna Chick of Covington, IN; loving nephew of Joyce Schneider of Batavia, IL, Mary (the late Robert) Morey of Hammond, IN, Sari (late Edwin) Chick of Crest Hill, IL, Cheryl (Gary) Uitermarkt of Cedar Lake, IN and James (Michelle) Lauber of Bonita Springs, FL; fond uncle of Katherine and Shannon Rivich; cousin and friend of many, former spouse of Jean Chick of Naperville. Art grew up in Schererville, attended Lake Central High School (Class of 1984) and was a 1988 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, IN where he played football and majored in English. He began his work career as a stockbroker/financial consultant at Hibbard Brown & Company in Cincinnati, OH and stayed in the financial industry for the last 29 years, most recently self employed. Art was an active member of SS. Peter & Paul Church in Naperville and coached football and basketball at SS. Peter & Paul School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football with his sons and was a passionate writer. Visitation Thursday, April 20, 2017, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Friday, April 21, 10:30 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville with Rev. Thomas Milota officiating. Per his wishes, Art's cremated remains will be scattered at one of his favorite places, the Florida Keys. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. Donations checks should be made out to Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness and sent to P.O. I am at a loss for words. I can't believe he is gone! He will be remembered and always be in my heart. He was such a good man and will live on through his sons. Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Chick family. (((Hugs)))
