Daisy Bellicini Obituary

We have all lost yet another member of America's Greatest Generation. Our mother, Daisy Mary (Martin) Bellicini, was born January 18, 1922, in the small, and now extinct town, of Esperanza, Texas (Montgomery County). She died July 16, 2015, at the age of 93, in Roswell, New Mexico.

Daisy's story is typical for her generation and age. She suffered The Great Depression as a child, married and endured World War II, converted from Church of Christ to Roman Catholic (well, not so typical), raised six children, grieved the deaths of a husband, two sons and a granddaughter, burned her mortgage, had an abiding wish that her children achieve happiness, and grew old beyond her golden years. Daisy's heritage dates from the events surrounded by and including The American Revolution, The War of 1812, Texas Independence, The Civil War, and World War I. But most of all she was a native Texan and she lived and died like one by setting courage as the standard. She will be greatly missed by us and warmly welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Daisy never kidded herself about the nature of people in general and this can best be summed up by Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird with, "I don't know, but they did it. They've done it before and they did it tonight and they'll do it again and when they do it—seems that only children weep. Good night." Good night, Miss Daisy. You were independent to a fault, single-minded, and determined. You made your own rules. Good for you.

A private funeral mass will be held at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Hayward, California, where her remains will be buried near a vineyard with her late husband, Dominick Bellicini Sr., and not far away from her late sons, Dominick "Butch" Bellicini Jr. and Stephen Charles Bellicini. May they Rest in Peace.

Daisy is preceded in death by many and survived by few (you know who you are).

Per her request, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army. The family would like to thank everyone who treated her with admiration and respect from the care community at Sunset Villa Care Center, her attorney who was only known to Daisy as "Lawyer J. Noble Daggett", the leadership and parish at St. Peter's, and all those that provided kind deeds, thoughts, and prayers for our mother and her family. You are all, likewise, in our grateful thoughts and prayers for the rest of our days.

Please take a moment to share your thoughts and memories with Daisy's family in the online register at andersonbethany.com.

Services are under the direction of Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory.
