Jim Bob Sumner, age 82 of Splendora, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was born June 1, 1935 in Fostoria, Texas to parents William Watchie Sumner and Lena Victoria Burks who preceded him in death along with his brothers, John Henry and Juluas Cecil; and sisters, Willie Bee and Beatrice.
Jim Bob was proud of his service in the Army. He had the rank of private and did his basic training at Fort Bliss and was stationed in Japan for the rest of his tour.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Sumner; sons, Bobby Jay Sumner, Wesley Keith Sumner and wife Tina; daughter, Janet Marie Campbell and husband Clarence; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Lovett Cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.

RIP Uncle Bob.... you were one of the most friendly, caring and most loving person that anyone could have ever met. You may not be physically here with us at this moment, however you are never forgotten and we will all be together on the other side before we all know it. (However, Im not trying to be inpatient or trying to rush the process to see you sooner... LOL). Love and miss you like crazy Uncle Bob.
