Jack L. Baggett, 75, passed away in Kingwood, Tx on December 21, 2015.
Born in Lake Charles, LA in 1940 the only child of Lloyd M. and Margaret Baggett, Jack spent his early years at the Sulphur Mines, La. and Ballinger, TX. Returning to Lake Charles, he completed his education at LaGrange HS and McNeese State College before embarking on a successful career in drilling fluids technology in the oil industry that spanned over five decades. In the early 90's Jack owned Jan Drake's Garden Café on the ice rink level at the Houston Galleria.
He had a life- long passion for music. Jack taught himself to play guitar and could finger pick most songs after hearing them once or twice. His favorite musicians were Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed.
Recognized by many in the Kingwood area as the older bearded guy with a Saints hat, Jack was often seen around the area stores, the Y and as a Mended Hearts visitor at Kingwood Hospital.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Ida Thurber, son Jack and wife Jill, daughter Gwendolyne and husband Andy Allen, and beloved grandsons Jeremy and Alex Allen. All of whom miss him very much.
Private interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Gardens, Lafayette, La.
A celebration of life will be held in Kingwood at The Nathaniel Center, 804 Russell Palmer Rd, on Saturday, January 30 from 2:30 pm - 5 pm. All friends and family are invited to attend and bring memories to share.
