Marion P. "Smitty" Smith

Marion Smith Obituary

Smitty (82) passed away peacefully while taking a nap after mowing the grass Tuesday morning 8/11/2015. He was born 11/23/1932 in Dobin, Texas. While he lived in the New Waverly area for most of his youth, Smitty called a small house on the corner of Elmtex and Smith Rd in Humble his home for over 51 years. He was a proud, long time member of Humble First United Methodist Church and enjoyed a fulfilling career in the Electrical wholesale business, retiring from Wildcat Electric over a decade ago.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1952. Smitty was a proud member of VFW post 9187 located at 6101 E Mont Houston Road, Houston, Tx 77050.

Smitty married his lovely wife, Catherine, 11/29/1953 and remained married until Catherine's death in 1999. Although Smitty and Catherine had five sons, they were parents and friends to many kids in the neighborhood for many years. He was always happy to share his vegetables and time with anybody in the community. Some of the many things we hope people remember him by is his gardens grown along Smith Road and his many years of volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America and Humble FFA.

Smitty is survived by his sisters Verna Davis, Lucile Slot, Bernice Johnson, and brother, Ed Smith.

Sons and daughters-in-law; Frank and Mary, Michael and Margret, Richard Smith, Dennis and Leslie, and Doug and Andrea. Grand Children; Marsha, Marcus, Heather, Jimmy, Jennifer, Megan, Michael, Casey, Chelcie, Rachael, Kelly, Kari, Kane, and Catherine. Great Grand Children; Breely Smith, Mason Skinner, Christopher Skinner, Leeya Harrison, Zachery Coats, Kellan Coats, Triston Saldivar, Liam Wilkerson, and Vivienne Wilkerson.

Visitation: 10am, Saturday 8/15/2015, Humble First United Methodist Church, 800 First St, Humble, TX 77338. Service: 11am-12pm. Interment immediately following service at Rosewood Cemetery, 2602 South Houston Avenue, Humble, Tx 77338. Reunion of friends: 1:30pm, VFW 9187, 6101 E Mont Houston Road, Houston, TX 77050
