Mark Curry Hoffman passed peacefully in his sleep into the arms of our loving Jesus on April 22nd. He was 58 years old.
Mark was born on November 16, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is survived by his bride of 16 years, Becky Bateman-Hoffman; mother, Jean O'Berry; children, Monica Hamilton & her children, Cheyene and Logan; CJ Hoffman and his wife, Stacey & their children, Jalynn, Cannon, Colton, and Chloe; Cody Hoffman and his wife, Amber & their children, Easton and Ella; stepson, Travis Blackburn; and stepdaughter, Kelsey Blackburn; brothers, David Connery and wife, Melanie; Matthew Connery and wife, Dawn; Kelly Connery and wife, Jennie; and nephews and nieces, Morgan, Kasey, Hannah, Lindsey, Ty, Paige, and Dane. He is predeceased by his father, James Hoffman.
Mark was born in Norfolk, Virginia where he spent his boyhood on Willoughby Spit, a tiny peninsula on the Atlantic coast. For a time Mark and his mother lived with his grandparents and other relatives in a large family home situated directly on the beach and within view of the massive Naval ships coming and going from the Naval base. Mark had many happy memories from that time of his life.
As a young teenager Mark ended up in Rockport, Texas where he continued his love of the sea by sailing, swimming, and skiing in the waters of the Gulf Coast. It was here, in Rockport, that he began his long and distinguished career in law enforcement working for both the county and cities agencies.
Eventually Mark moved to Houston and swore in as a Harris County Sheriff's Deputy where he served honorably until his retirement in 2014. Mark then began a second career as a patrol constable for Precinct 4 until his second retirement a year ago.
Mark attracted attention wherever he was because of his larger-than-life personality. His quick wit kept everyone laughing while his sentimental heart made them at ease. Mark was usually the center of attention wherever he was and that's exactly how he liked it! He was one of a kind.

Mark was a great country and western dancer. I will always remember Lillian's where he taught me--and others--how to dance. He was full of life, always joyful, extremely caring--he will be missed dearly. Becky and family, peace be with you! Please know that many of us are lifting you up in prayer. Blessings,
