Robert L. Amar, 59, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2024, after living with ALS for over 14 years. He was born on May 15, 1965, in Mission, Texas to Henry and Rosa Amar who preceded him in death.
After graduating from Hereford High School in 1984, Robert proudly served in the United States Army for four years. He was a dedicated soldier who exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his military career.
In his civilian life, Robert excelled as the managing partner at ABC Supply Co. Inc., for 27 years. His exceptional leadership skills were recognized when he received the prestigious Ken Hendricks award in 2016. Robert was a true trailblazer in the company, leaving a lasting impact on all those he worked with.
Robert married the love of his life, Angela Marie Garza in 1995 and shortly after started their beautiful family. Angela and Robert loved to travel. They created many wonderful memories on trips they enjoyed with Robert's ABC Supply work family and their personal friends. They loved doing projects around the house and spending quality time together with their family. Robert and Angela were always the first couple on the dance floor and the last to leave. Their love was endless and unconditional. They celebrated the best of times together, and there were many of those. During life's difficult times, they leaned on each other for comfort and support. Angela was Robert's rock and guiding light. They sacrificed for one another because of their love for each other and their children.
Victoria, Robert, and Marissa were his pride and joy. Although he loved his career, he loved his family tenfold and was actively involved in all three of their lives. He spent countless hours coaching Robert's teams and was a great role model to not only the players but the other coaches as well. They also spent many weekends at the deer lease and out on his boat fishing. Robert enjoyed vacationing with his family at the beach and skiing in New Mexico. He loved his Houston Astros, and he made sure he took Angela and their children to many games, including seeing the Astros play in several World Series games. His favorite outing was taking his family to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which he attended every year. Robert wanted his family to experience and enjoy life to its fullest, just as he did.
Robert loved to attend Kingwood High School football games where he watched Victoria dance on the Fillies, Robert play football, and Marissa play her flute in the KM4B marching band. He loved to watch Robert wrestle with the KHS Wrestling Team and was honored to have the Robert Amar Mental Toughness Award dedicated to him. One of his favorite projects was raising chickens in the garage while Robert and Marissa were involved in FFA. After the three of them graduated from Kingwood High School, he quickly became a proud Aggie dad. Attending every ring day and graduation, nothing could keep him from celebrating his children's accomplishments. Even in the later stages of his diagnosis, Robert attended Victoria and Ralph's wedding and was the life of the party. His proudest moment came when his grandson Gavin was born and he made sure he was the first one at the hospital to see him. Witnessing Victoria become a mother brought him such joy. Robert's love for Gavin was immeasurable and he was still smiling and trying to make him laugh even in his final moments.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Amar; his children, Victoria and husband, Ralph Gonzales, Robert Matthew Amar, Marissa Amar; his grandson, Gavin Brooks Gonzales; his mother-in-law, "mom" Mary Lou Garza; father-in-law, Raul Garza Jr.; and stepfather, Calvin Mire. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. Robert's legacy will live on in the many lives he changed during his time on earth, and his family is takes great comfort knowing he is healed and with our Heavenly Father.
At this time, there are no plans for a funeral or memorial service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember the remarkable life of Robert L. Amar.
