Stephen Randell Hearn, age 32, passed away on September 11, 2016 in Nacogdoches, Texas, from complications of an extended illness. He was born on February 24, 1984 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Linda and Paul Hearn (Chireno, TX). Stephen was raised in Kingwood, Texas, and graduated from Kingwood High School and the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Government. Stephen was a man of profound intellect and courage who faced his illness with few complaints and amazing strength. He was a loyal and encouraging friend to many. Stephen was a gifted, self-taught guitar player who loved music, song writing, and attending concerts. He was a talented writer, enjoyed basketball and football, and found great joy at the family farm in Chireno. He was proud to be a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his parents, sister Catherine Sala and husband Tony and nieces Grace and Gwen (Houston, TX), grandmother Jo Cowart (Katy, TX), grandmother Gracie Hearn (Plano, TX), aunt Kathy Hearn (Folsom, CA), uncle James and wife Rebecca Cowart (Richmond TX), aunts Jude Williams (Fulshear, TX) and Nancy Cowart (Sugar Land, TX). Stephen enjoyed close relationships with and loved his cousins Lindsay and James, Sarah and Grant, and Jennifer and Randell. His ashes will be interred at Chireno Lower Cemetery with a memorial service in Chireno at a later date. Cindy and I are saddened by your loss. We had spoken over the years about the health challenges Stephen faced, he was so fortunate to be surrounded by such supportive. loving parents.
