Thomas E. Malan of Humble, Texas passed away peacefully on October 8, 2012 at the age of 91.
Born in Highland, IL to Earl and Alma Malan, he was the oldest of 4 children. As a young boy, his family moved to Centralia, IL. He served 3 years in the Army during WWII, and returned to marry Gwendolyn Crosby and they eventually settled in St. Louis, MO.
He spent his career as a Manufacture's Representative for several companies. He went on to become a Shriner and was president of the Hot Springs Village, Arkansas Shrine club after his retirement. An article was written about him concerning his time in WWII in the book The Liberatores by Michael Hirsh.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, infant daugher, and brother. He is survived by his wife Gwynn, daughter and son-in-law Gay and Doug Picker, granddaughters Courtney, and husband Trey, Danielle and husband Matthew, brother Gordon Malan of Centralia, IL, sister Nina Walburn and husband Gene of St. Louis, MO, sister-in-law Rose Marie Malon of Centralia, IL, 3 great grandchildren, numerous niece's and nephew's, and host of friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday October 26 at the Houston National Cemetary. Donations can be made to Humble Area First Baptist Church, 19901 Townswn Blvde. Eas, Humble, TX 77338.
