Tommy Howard Bruce, age 56 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born April 2, 1962 in Bay City, Texas to parents Jane and Eugene Bruce. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Bruce; and grandparents, Homer and Bill Stacy, Vance and Faye Bruce.
Tom graduated from the University of Houston in 1986. He taught and coached at Harper ISD, Red Oak ISD, and Runge ISD before moving to Cleveland where he taught middle school math, and coached middle and high school football for three years. Tom spent the last 17 years of his career at Tarkington ISD teaching math, and coaching volleyball, basketball, and tennis. Tom loved the Lord and he attended church with his family at Calvary Baptist Church and Oak Shade Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Jessiene Bruce; father, Eugene Bruce; sons, David Bruce, Joshua Bruce and wife Jessica, Daniel Bruce and Caleb Bruce; sister, Nancie Hoover and husband Terry; brother, Richard Bruce and wife Laura; grandchildren, Thomas and Elijah Bruce; niece, Roxanne Beltran and husband James; nephew, Richard Bruce and wife Melissa; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Oak Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
