William A. Defoor

1932 - 2021

William Alfred Defoor passed away July 4th, 2021 in Montgomery, Tx. He was 88 years old. He was born October 13, 1932 to Alfred J Defoor and Mary Sue Wood Defoor. Soon after marrying his wife, Betty Taylor Defoor in 1953, he was drafted into the army and spent 4 years in El Paso Texas and during that time, his daughter Carol was born. After an honorable discharge, William and family moved back to Conroe, Tx. and he went to work for Conroe Telephone Company. He was one of the first few employees at Conroe Telephone Co. Switchboards were in use at that time. In 1959, his son William Russell Defoor was born. William spent 35 years working for the phone company, during which that time he made many lifelong friends. He retired in 1993.

William was an avid gardener and always raised a large garden every year, enough to share with family and friends. He always loved being outside. William was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mary Sue Defoor, his son William Russell Defoor, one granddaughter, Mica Brown and husband Yuri and great granddaughter Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Taylor Defoor, his daughter, Carol Defoor, one grandson Aaron Russell Defoor and wife Lori, two granddaughters Stephanie Malmay and husband Justin and Ashley Sykora and husband Troy.

Visitation will be Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4-6 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday July 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with interment to follow at Conroe Memorial Park.
