Timothy Bohrer Obituary

Timothy H. Bohrer
Born: September 8, 1949 in South Milwaukee, WI
Died: March 23, 2026 in Oregon, IL
Timothy Henry Bohrer, a resident of Oregon, IL, passed away from cancer at the age of 76 on March 23, 2026 at Serenity Hospice with his wife Martha (Adams) Bohrer, daughter Anna, son Gregory (Tova), and beloved grandchildren, Solveig and Magnus at his side. Timothy was born September 8, 1949 to Louise and Egon Bohrer in South Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Menasha High School and earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Michigan Technological University. Upon graduation from Purdue University with a M.S. in chemical engineering in 1973, he returned to Neenah-Menasha to start his career in food packaging technology. In 1980 he married Martha Adams of Oregon, IL. Their two children Anna and Gregory were born in Neenah, WI. Tim invested his career in the development of innovative food packaging and technology management, beginning as a process and product engineer at American Can, followed by positions as chief technology officer at James River (later Fort James), Ivex Packaging, and Alcoa corporations. He pioneered the invention and development of the first food packaging to increase temperatures in microwaves high enough to pop corn and brown and crisp a variety of other microwaved foods. He concluded his career with 20 years as an independent business consultant in the packaging industry. Tim is named as an inventor on more than 30 patents. Throughout his career, Tim and his wife Martha moved with their two children from Neenah, WI, to Kalamazoo, MI, to Loveland, OH, followed by 20 years in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Tim was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packer fan from his first attendance at the fabled Ice Bowl as a teenager. He and his family enjoyed a lifetime of summers on Loon Lake near Shawano, WI with the extended Bohrer/Wolk families. In 2019 he retired with Martha and their daughter Anna to Martha's hometown of Oregon. Wherever they lived, Tim was a leader in their varied faith communities and was instrumental in the construction of three new churches in Neenah, Loveland, and Arica, Chile. His life revolved around his love of God, family, and his career. In retirement he doted on his grandchildren, embraced country life in Oregon, and enjoyed international travel with Martha and friends. Tim was predeceased by his parents Louise and Egon Bohrer. He is survived by his loving wife Martha (Adams) Bohrer, his sister Linda Mitchell (Richard), his daughter Anna Bohrer, son Gregory Bohrer (Tova), and two grandchildren Solveig and Magnus Bohrer. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am with Pastor Tyler Spellious officiating, and luncheon at noon on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the United Church of Byron. A memorial fund is established in Tim's name and will be dedicated to the United Church of Byron, organ fund. Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence or memory of Tim.
