Bert was born on October 13, 1929 in New Brunswick, NJ to Hilbert Van Pelt Morris and Josephine Anna Milman and passed away December 17, 2017 in Newport Beach, CA. Upon his mother's remarriage to Michael J. Carson, he was adopted by her new husband and changed his name to Hilbert Morris Carson.
He received a B.S. degree from Rutgers University and while in his third year of their law school, his naval reserve unit was activated. He also met his future wife, Martha, at school and they remained friends through their school years. They were married on December 27, 1952 and enjoyed 65 years of happy marriage.
After serving six years in Naval Intelligence, from 1952 to 1958, he left the military and joined the aerospace industry, with the General Electric Co. and then Northrop Aviation, he retired at 62 and began a new rewarding career in volunteering. He served as a juror on the 1991-1992 term on the Orange County Grand Jury. In 1993 he joined the Orange County Sheriffs Dept. and served 18 years as a reserve officer. During the same time he also served 16 years as a Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Newport Beach. Through these same years he also served, as needed, as an arbitrator for the Orange County Bar Association.
He is survived by his wife Martha, children, Michele Edquist and Robert Carson and grandson Matthew.
Bert will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was one of the good guys!
