James "J.D." Dudley Bruce, 82, of Pasadena, TX passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011. He was born June 15, 1929 in Grimes County, TX to Dudley B. Bruce and Artie M. Murchison Bruce. He graduated from Conroe High School and attended Navarro Junior College, went to work in 1951 at Eastern States and in 1963 went to work as an Insurance Agent for State Farm where he retired in 2000. J.D. was a member of Central Baptist Church, was on the P.I.S.D. School Board of Trustees from 1964 to 1979 and served on the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees from 1981 to 2008. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lela Bruce; son, Randy Bruce and wife Susan; daughter, Zana Thompson and husband Ray; brothers, Jimmy Bruce and wife Sharon, Johnny Bruce and wife Jean, Bobby Bruce and wife Jeannie; sisters, Maydell Pustka and husband Jake, Margaret Burmaster and Ora Currier; grandchildren, Kellie Cooper and husband Randall, Melissa Weber and husband James, Tracie Frederick and husband Troy, Jennifer Bruce, Stephanie Taylor and husband Jason, Melanie Bruce, Dan Thompson, Kirk Thompson and wife Sheryl, Cory Thompson and wife Andrea, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Bruce; and sister, Nora Bruce. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 5PM to 8PM at Grand View Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1PM at First Baptist Church of Pasadena 7500 Fairmont Pkwy in Pasadena with Dr. Jon Redmond officiating. Graveside Services will be private at Grand View Memorial Park.
