Suzanne Brinker Obituary
Suzanne Roberts Brinker was born on the 23rd of August in the summer of 1948. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 20, 2023 in Brenham, Texas.
Born and raised in South Houston, Texas, she recalled the grid of Avenues that stand today as vast, open fields of prairie once upon her lifetime. Growing up in the 1950's, high school and college in the 1960's, and career and marriage in the 1970's, Suzanne lived vibrantly through each of those iconic decades with grace and supreme style, commonly in chic ensembles she had stitched herself.
The 1980's would usher in the season of life she desired most: motherhood. In the same neighborhood she lived as a child, she welcomed and raised three children. She described the years that followed as her greatest joy and biggest dream fulfilled. She loved being a 'momma' and there was no one better suited for it.
Her legacy lives on in her three children - so singular while each undeniably sharing their mother's ingenuity, clever disposition and thoughtful nature. Adam, a Pilot and Aviation Specialist; Mark, a retired Police O?cer and a Multi-Business Owner, both married, raising children and living in New Braunfels, Texas; and Beth, a Writer and Creative Director living in Nashville, TN.
Among Suzanne's many talents, one of the most celebrated was her gorgeous singing voice, which she first debuted at church with a rendition of her favorite hymn, In The Garden. While attending Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible College, she sang in a traveling sign language choir, sharing her gift in churches across the country. Following graduation, she returned to Houston to continue her studies in Elementary Education at The University of Houston.
A natural in the field of education and child development, she thrived in every position she held. Throughout her career, she worked as a Montessori school teacher, a daycare director, a teacher's aide, and eventually a professional nanny. As a single mother since 1987, she also supported her family by selling her many creations.
Gifted with creativity, Suzanne was known for her ability to make anything- from sewing and crochet to painting, floral design and everything in between. Unfailingly, the result would be effortlessly beautiful, just as she was.
When her children were grown, she relocated to Brenham in hopes of finding the smalltown comfort she'd once known her hometown to be and did she ever. There, her pleasures were simple. When not traveling to see her children and grandchildren, she loved spending time with her neighbors, watching hummingbirds and deer outside of her window, cooking and crafting. Suzanne was steadfast in her faith and loved the Lord. Her generosity and openhearted approach to life and everyone she met was the purest form of God's love working through her. She made everyone feel special and seen. She especially loved the fellowship she found in the Cowboy Church of Brenham. It reminded her of the community she had for so many years at Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena.
Her selflessness, unassuming beauty, quick wit and infectious smile were her hallmarks. Suzanne gave so selflessly of her time, her gifts and her love - that is how she will be remembered and revered.
Devoted mother of Adam Brinker and his wife Brandi of New Braunfels, TX, Mark Brinker and his wife Brandi of New Braunfels, TX, and Beth Brinker of Nashville, TN; loving Mamaw to granddaughters Aubrey, Baylee and Paislee; also survived by her brother John, brother-in-law Doug Jeter, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' Mathew 25:23
