Paul was born in Jamaica, Queens Borough, NYC. He was the son of the late Edward P. Schmitzer and the late
Gertrude R. (Biesinger) Schmitzer. He was the husband
of Margaret M. (Leckfor) Schmitzer. They were married
43 years ago in Manchester, Conn.
Paul was a graduate of Fairview High School, Class of 1962, in Mountain Top, Pa. He also attended Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and in 1966 graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Science.
In addition, Paul attended Rutgers University and in 1978 graduated with a Master's Degree in Ocean
Engineering from the University of Connecticut Storrs.
He was a mechanical engineer from 1978 until he retired in 1996 from the former Gilbert Commonwealth in Cumru Twp., where he designed nuclear power plants and did pipe stress analysis.
Paul was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church,
Birdsboro.
Paul's hobbies included cross country skiing, gardening and he loved going to the beach.
Surviving, along with his wife, are: 1 daughter, Jessica S., wife of Harland Yu, of Springfield, Va.; father-in-law, John Leckfor Sr., of Manchester, Conn.; brother-in-law, John Leckfor Jr., of Ledyard, Conn.; sister-in-law, Patricia, wife of John Rossi, of Glastonbury, Conn.; sister-in-law, Joanne, wife of John Gunning, of Warwick, R.I.;
2 grandchildren, Henry K. Yu and Edward K. "Teddy" Yu; and 1 niece; and 2 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to services at The Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 North Spruce Street, Birdsboro, Pa. Interment will be held in Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Hwy., Alexandria, VA, at the convenience of the family.
