Guy Meyer Obituary
The Reverend Guy Wheeler Meyer passed away in Inverness, California, February 22 2009 at the age of 94.
He was raised in Massachusetts, attended Harvard University, the University of Chicago, and Meadville Theological School. In 1942, he was ordained as a Unitarian-Universalist minister and from 1964-1968, he served the Unitarian Church in Newburgh, NY. While there, he was an active voice against war and for race conciliation.
Rev. Meyer is survived by his partner of 34 years, Joyce Greenwood of California; his former wife, Verne M. Bell of Newburgh, NY; his children: Satya Doerksen of British Columbia, Lynn Meyer of Maine, Guy W. Meyer Jr. of California, Jill Meyer of Maine, Genie M. Harden of Oregon, and Roger W. Meyer of New York City; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In memory, donations may be made to the War Resister's League, Greenpeace, or Doctors Without Borders.
