Michael J. Vitone, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born on January 16, 1958, in Waterbury, Mike was the son of the late Frank and Myrtle (Steeves) Vitone. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School, Class of 1976. He began his career at McDermott Industries and later worked for the City of Waterbury's Street Department, from where he retired.
He frequented the East Enders, the Speakeasy, the 195, and spent time at the Pines II, the Wolcott VFW, and the Watertown VFW. A motorcycle enthusiast, Mike rode with several local groups and with friends. He enjoyed NASCAR, was an avid New England Patriot fan, and attended many Patriot football games. Always the life of the party, Mike enjoyed live music and outdoor concerts. A talented singer, he loved adding harmonies with family and friends to songs from the 60s and 70s. He was happiest when spending time with his family, and spending summers in Wildwood, NJ with his friend Dave Anderson.
Mike is survived by his brother Thomas Vitone and his wife Penny of Autryville, NC; his nephews whom he loved dearly, Stephen F. Vitone, II of Waterbury and Anthony J. Vitone of Wolcott, and his niece Caitlin Goodwin and her family. He also leaves his grandnephew Matteo Vitone as well many lifelong friends including his best friends Ray Vienneau and Cal McWaid. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen Vitone.
