Edward Doon Obituary

Edward Doon
December 8, 1925 - August 23, 2022
Edward Doon passed away on August 23, 2022 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Lola, survived by his daughter, Linda; son, Leland; grandsons Eric and John; daughter-in-law, Lan. Also survived by brothers, Jimmy, Donald and David and their wives, Gloria, Loretta and many nieces and nephews.
Ed led a fruitful and varied life. He arrived in Angel Island from China at an early age. Fortunately, he stayed on the island for only a day then lived in San Francisco. Attending Francisco Jr. High briefly he moved to Merced to work at a relative's grocery store and attend Merced High. Ed was drafted by the Army during WWII at the age of 17 and served for 2 years. He was stationed in Texas and Tennessee. After being honorably discharged from the Army he received his GED, attended CCSF for a few years, then transferred to UC Berkeley, majoring in Engineering. Ed was married to the love of his life, Lola for almost 57 years until her death in 2011. He was the owner of a meat market on Chestnut Street and worked there for 5 years before getting a job at Caltrans. Ed traveled the world before and especially during retirement. He also found his passion with golf.
Ed was a positive person who had a positive attitude and outlook on life. This is what he tried to share with his children, grandchildren and close friends and relatives. He will be missed by all.
