The paintings included a seven canvas painting, 28 feet long of Asilomar that is a 360 degree view of the Asilomar State Park and a twelve foot painting of the "Palace of Fine Arts, SF."
He loved to travel to New York and Paris to visit the museums. Yosemite was a place he and Betty visited several times a year. Many of his paintings are from Yosemite.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty and children, Maurice and wife Rhonda, Gordon, Rebecca and husband, David and Jennifer. Granddaughters, Dawn and Laura and great-granddaughter, Aubrey, Sister-in-law, Moselle, Sister, Chlo Kris, brother of late Bruce and Rodger. He had many honors throughout his career including Teacher of the Year in Alameda Unified School District, Alameda CA and served as President of the California Arts Education Association.
He loved and lived well! He was a person who was loved dearly by his wife, daughters, sons and friends! He will always be with us!
He passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Friday, September 7, 2018. According to his wishes no further services will be held. His Exhibit held this month is the honor and recognition he would have wanted.

To Whom It May Concern, I am Ben Yee, a student of Mr. Roark at Encinal High School in the early´ 70´s.
I was able to have a conversation with Mr. Ruark a couple years before he passed. On the lark, I looked up your phone number and called and he happened to answer and I was honored to have him remember who I was. I told him that he changed my life While I was in his class and a member of his Art Club.
I´m writing today because of him and to honor his memory I am flying to Amsterdam to see the Van Gogh Museum. One of our art club field trips was to see the last world tour of van Gogh paintings at the deYoung. All of kids piled into his VW Squareback, totally illegal nowadays, but we really had a good time and it has stuck with me for all these decades. Peace be with you, with love and appreciation, Benjamin Yee, 510 703-1911.

I loved being in his class, very cool teacher.
I remember in 83 or 84 Bob Simmons used to make big Clay wormlike figures.
I still have a art piece I made in his class by my bedside.
Mr Rourke said it shouldn´t have survived the Kilm.
RIP good man.

I think of you when I hear classical music. I guess you used to play it in your studio? I don’t quite remember. But I definitely think of you. ❤❤❤❤❤

Rpbert. Betty and four children were my longest known friends in Alameda. I as a gransplant from Michigan and Betty & Robert from Kentucky became fast friends readily. We vacationed together, the kids made jewelry with him and their house was always open and inviting to everyone who came. His renovations of the house was exauisite and a pleasure to be in. He was an artist in all things that he did. Never to be forgotten

Robert was a kind and gentle soul. I will remember him as a talented and unique artist. Spending Christmas with him and the family was always a blessing to me. I remember him always taking beautiful family photos. He was very thoughtful...never leaving anyone out. While his sudden passing is sad, what a great way to go out! His artwork and his art show live on as a legacy of beauty in nature. Well done sir. Xoxoxo
