Stephen Grove Obituary

July 1, 1975 - July 14, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Stephen M. Grove, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was born July 1, 1975, in Kalamazoo, MI. His parents, Stephen A. and Beverly (Krueper) Grove, survive in South Bend. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is also survived by his brother, Sean Grove; his sisters, Jocelyn Grove and Chelsea Grove; by his niece, Kiana Grove; and by his girlfriend, Melanie Greentree. Steve also leaves behind loving aunts, uncles, and cousins to cherish the many memories of time spent together. Steve was an alumnus of Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA, where he played hockey. He attended Ball State University and IUSB. While living in Colorado, he enjoyed biking, snowboarding, and cookouts with his friends. He loved living in Portland, OR, where the weather suited him most and the living was laid back, and he was planning to return there in the near future. Steve spent his last years living in Washington, DC, where he was employed by PEPCO as an analyst. His family and friends will remember his thoughtfulness and good-hearted approach to others. We will miss his sense of humor, his smile, his devotion to anything ND, and watching television while enjoying a fire in the fireplace. But most of all, we will miss his hugs and his love for us. He has left us much too soon. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, with a vigil service starting at 4 on Thursday, July 18th, at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 11:30 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where additional visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the South Bend Homeless Shelter, the Food Bank, or to a charity of your choice. To send condolences to the family, please visit www.McGannHay.com.

The day I met you I knew my life would be forever changed. Your cute, mischievous smile had me from that first moment and your love kept my heart filled for three beautiful years. I am forever thankful for showing me how to love again and for helping make so many fun filled memories. I can't fathom you not being by my side but know you will always be in my heart for the rest of my life. I love you so much boo boo, my world just doesn't seem as bright without you in it. May you find peace my love. 'Til we meet again.....
