Katie Latona Obituary
Katie Latona, 21, died tragically on April 5, 2010, in St. Augustine.
Katie was a graduate of St. Augustine High School and had been working as a title clerk in the family auto business, Beachside Sales.
She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Kathleen Latona; brothers, Greg and Chris Latona; grandfather, Joseph D. Latona, all of St. Augustine; and grandparents, Fred and Sara Witt of New York.
A memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Cathedral Basilica. The celebrant will be the Rev. Edward Booth. Friends are invited afterward to a Celebration of Life at the home of Katie's parents beginning at noon.
Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.

katie, i miss you more than words can describe.. i miss your head on my pillow, finding your hair in my brush, trying on clothes for unhealthy amounts of time, the victories, the hard times, the unbearable times, your hugs, your kisses, all the pictures, trips to miami, i miss it all.. my partner in crime. i cant believe your gone.. i think of you whenever i see my stars and i know youre here with all of us when we need you.. i asked "why" for too long, but i know; I would have taken my angel back too <3 Rest in Peace Aunt Katie, I love you!

Each morning i wake up and wonder why katie, why my best friend. She was so young so full of life, i will never forget all the good and bad times that we went through. I miss living at joes and walking down to your house. I drove by your house yesterday and i could not stop crying, i went down to the beach and said a prayer. You will always be a part of me and i will never forget you.

Katie, i miss you so much.Everyday i think of you. You were my best friend and partner in crime. lol You always made me laugh. I know that i recieved a sign from you the night before your funeral. I was praying for you and asking god why he would take you from me. You sent me a sign and i will never forget that. After you passed i had a tattoo made in your honor. It says "forever mourning, always remembering" i will never forget you!

My daughter, Hannah, called me crying on Katie’s birthday. It’s just so hard for her. I told Hannah that it always will be. Even when she’s 80 years old, she’ll hear a tune or see a smile and the memories will come rushing back. For now, if we appreciate a certain breeze or the wet kiss of a good dog or maybe the way the waves break down by A Street, say a silent prayer: “This one’s for Katie...”

Yesterday, while sorting through a box of family pictures, I came across a birthday card that Katie made for me. She had obviously taken time to cut & paste & draw. So sweet. When she was over at the house with Hannah, all I ever heard was laughter. If Carla & I were out to dinner or somewhere in town and we saw Katie, she was full of hugs and smiles and more laughter. It always amazed me to be around this little girl who just loved so much. The Beatles were pretty much right about that...”all you need is love”. The whole world could take a lesson from Katie...she was love.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I watched Katie grow up into the beautiful young lady she became. We laughed together about things that she was doing in her life, concerts she was attending and the different clothes styles she wore. I will miss her smile, her stories and her laughter.

I cannot even imagine the grief for which you are all feeling at the moment; and I truly ache for your pain. I don't like to say "she's in a better place" because the best place is here on earth with friends and family...she is however a new ray of sunshine in our amazing skies, and for that we can be eternally greatful for that extra burst of beauty everyday...

Katie and I were very very close since middle school.. we practically lived at eachothers houses then.. we went to New York together and had a blast and even when we got in a car wreck in middle school i was more worried about her than myself at the time.. She was a great person and always alot of fun to be around! I love you Katie and Im sorry that you are gone!

i only meet katie one time when she was about 11 years old. i remember she went camping with myself and one of my deaf sons. she smiled at him and made him feel comfortable even though she had never met him before and did not know sign language.she went out of her way to be kind. thats what i will remember about katie. i also knew from her parents how much she was loved. i really hate this for everyone who will miss her especially her family. much love from sarah chris and david bicknell.

That skinny little girl was truly a ray of pure sunshine. All hugs with a big laugh and a bigger smile. So open, so trusting, so willing to think the best of everyone and everything. Whenever she was over at the house with our daughter, Hannah, it was a joy to just have her around. Heaven is just a bit brighter now; she will charm everyone there just like she always did here. I look forward to seeing that big funny smile again.
