LAKELAND - Eric Sean Roche, 16, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.
Eric was born October 28, 1996 in Tampa, FL. He attended George Jenkins High School where he was an honor student and a member of the ROTC. Eric was employed by Winn Dixie. He enjoyed paintball, fishing, jogging and spending time with his friends and his dog, Lucky.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Frances Pribek and Mary West.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Patricia Roche; grandparents, Ron and Donna Roche and David Pribek; sisters, Melinda (Joe) Alban, Tammy (Adam) Borden, Linda (Steve) Allen, Sharon (Travis) Dawkins; brothers, Gilbert (Mindy) Borden, Vince (Stephanie) Borden and Lenny (Ashley) Caye; and many other loving family members and wonderful friends. He is much loved and will be missed dearly by all. Until we see you again, Eric.
Eric's family will receive friends Monday, October 7, 2013, from 5-8pm at Lakeland Funeral Home at 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10am at the funeral home chapel.

Eric was my sons best friend. We shared the same last name with his family.
Eric would stay at our home for a week or two during the summer as my son also stayed at his house. He was such a great person to be around. We all miss him but I am so happy we knew him for the short time we did! He truly made an impact on all our lives. Thank you Mike and Diane for allowing us to be a part of his life.

Eric Thanksgiving will not be the same this year. We are going to miss you so much. Heidi still asks for you and still walks around the house singing happy birthday eric. I hope you know how much you are loved and missed. If only we could turn back the hands of time.

I didn't know him well, but what I did I liked. I thought of him as such a nice guy. My heart is deeply saddened for your family and those who knew him. I pray for all of you daily. Look to God who is the only one who can comfort you in a time like this.

I was Eric's brother-in-law. We would see him only once a year, but each moment was fun and adventure. Eric was brave and would do anything with us. I love him and miss him.

My son went to school w/ Eric at GJHS and had only good things to say about him. He is deeply saddened by the loss of this young man. He was a great student, friend, decorated w/ his Rotc accomplishments, just good all around. So sorry for your loss. Your family will continually be in my prayers. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.

I didn't know Eric I would see him around campus and could tell he was well respected by his peers, staff, an by any one who would walk by him in the halls or the court yard. I pray for the family for their loss. I know how it fells to loose some one so close to you who you would do anything for them.

I went to the same middle school as Eric in eighth grade. I was the new kid, and it was a tough transition. He was one of the nicest to me. We had a class together, and I remember whenever I would see him in the hallways, I would say, "hi!" The next year, we went to different high schools. And I haven't seen him since. I miss him. I will be praying for peace for the family he left behind, in this season.

I personally didn't know your son. But from what i am seeing and hearing he was a great friend and person. My grandchildren(and my "adopted grandchildren")go to GJ and some did know him and are going to miss him dearly. prayers for his family and friends. God is with you and Eric is with God.

To Eric's family: A truly fine, fine young man. We have a small shop in the Winn-Dixie Plaza and we both parked under the shade trees. We would chat about his hobbies and I mentioned I would substitute teach at GJHS occasionally. I am so sorry for your loss of a wonderful, kind, honest and gentle young man.

To Eric's family: A fine, fine young man who I recently met a few months ago at Winn-Dixie. We have a small business in that plaza and Eric parked under the shade trees as I always do. I remember Eric from my volunteer work at LHMS, especially when he was in 8th grade. He was very polite & had a warm smile & kind eyes. My hope is that his family & friends can find comfort in knowing he is now at peace. I am so very saddened & sorry for your loss.

When meeting Eric I found him to be a quite and respectful young man. The type of boy every parent wants their child to be like. I know with you being gone is a great loss for your family but also a loss for anyone that had the privalidge of knowing you. R.I.P sweet boy you take a part of many hearts with you.

Eric was a great friend I was new to Jenkins last year and i had Eric in AP World History and he was kind enough to show me the ropes as a newbie. He will greatly be missed and he was an awesome friend love you forever and always Eric.

I never had the privilege of meeting Eric , but I know if he was anything like his sisters Linda, Sharon , Tammy or his brother Bubba . I know he had to have been one amazing person .
