LAKELAND - Joyce Arlene Strader, 85, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away at the Estates at Carpenter's Monday, August 11, 2014, at 12:15 pm due to natural causes.
The memorial service will be held at 10 am Friday, August 15, at Ignited Church, 5859 U.S. Highway 98 N in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be given in her honor to Ignited Church to be disbursed to her favorite charities.
Joyce was born on February 21, 1929, in Selfridge, North Dakota, to Joseph K. and Dolly Wead.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Reverend Karl D. Strader, children: Stephen, Daniel, Karla, and Dawn, ten grandchildren: Jordan, Marcus, Brooklynn, Steele, Sterling, Karl, Austin, Baron, Kyle, and Alexis, great grandchildren: Autumn and Annalise, and dozens of adoring nieces and nephews who knew her as 'Auntie Joyce.'
Joyce was the youngest of five siblings: Florence, Dorothy, Leora, Roy, and Lloyd 'Bus,' who she is now reunited with in heaven. Joyce was raised in South Dakota and attended Rapid City High School. She received her teaching degree from Bob Jones University In Greenville, South Carolina, where she met and married her husband, Karl. They had a beautiful garden wedding at the Greenville Children's Hospital where Joyce was working. It was important to her that all the children be a part of her special day. Joyce was a beloved Pastor's wife, intercessor, teacher, and radio talk show host. She ministered to thousands of people throughout her lifetime, both in person and by way of writing special notes. The hallmark of her life was her child-like faith, devotion to family, and her strong desire to see people come to know Jesus Christ.

So sorry to learn of Joyce's passing. What a true woman of God and will be missed by thousands! Both her and Pastor Karl were wonderful host to us while we were in Florida visiting. We dined out with them on a Saturday evening, in church with them on Sunday morning and stayed at their home on Sunday afternoon. What a blessing!

Aunt Joyce was my father Roy's little sister. She was always there for me after my parents passed. Growing up she included me as one of her kids. Will never forget her famous pancake breakfasts and taco suppers, she loved to watch my big cousins Joe, Ray,& Rich set records eating! Tim

Because of Sister Strader I have the wonderful wife that I have. Every time I look at my wife I have a wonderful memory of Sister Strader. Also thankful for her prayers. She helped arranged our wedding.
Most of the family was in the wedding party on May 3 1970. We love the Strader family they are a spiritual legend.

I knew Sis Strader a long time and appreciated her gracious way. She loved the Lord and it showed. She will be missed not only by the family. I will be praying for all of the family and friends. My personal thoughts and prayer are with family which I was very blessed and knew while attending first assembly and carpenters home church. God bless you during this difficult time.
I was also blessed to work at Carpenter's home church for many years.

Sister Joyce is a fine example of grace and refinement to us all. She will always be remembered for her consideration of others as displayed by her many personal notes. And of course, her prayer life for missionaries.
