Katherine Ann Van Den Ameele

Katherine Ann Van Den Ameele, "Kay", 80, of Ridgefield, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. She was the loving wife of the late Edward "Ed" W. Van Den Ameele.
Kay was born in Plainfield, NJ on April 7, 1940; a daughter of the late John and Therese (Wurzer) Honneger. She graduated from Rutherford High School in New Jersey, and attended Centenary College and Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she and Ed met. They were married on February 22, 1964.
A Ridgefield resident since 1981, Kay was a retired teacher from the Ridgefield school system, and also taught at New Fairfield High School and the Katharine Gibbs School. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield, and of Founders Hall, and was active in the Ridgefield P.E.O. She loved to cook large meals and entertaining friends and family in her home was one of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, quilting, knitting, and great conversation with friends.
Kay is survived by her children; son Edward John "EJ" Van Den Ameele and his partner, Martha Herzog, and daughter Alissa Beth Willette and her husband, Mark. Kay is also survived by 3 granddaughters; Emma and Katie Nelsen, and Addy Van Den Ameele.
Funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date. Contributions in Mrs. Van Den Ameele's memory may be made to Founders Hall of Ridgefield, 193 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877, or at https://founders-hall.org/donate
