John Edwin Overberg, 55, of Bryan, Ohio passed over suddenly in the afternoon of Sunday, August 3, 2014, in Bryan Hospital. He was born February 11, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of Francis and Dorothea (Kaminsky) Overberg.

John married Sarah Janet Oliver of Maumee, Ohio, daughter of William and Barbara (Drake) Oliver, on January 20, 1984. They lived in Toledo before moving to rural Montpelier on several acres of wooded land.

John's family moved to Maumee, Ohio, where he spent some years before moving and graduating from Montpelier, Ohio High School. He graduated from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio with a degree in computer science. John and Sarah bought wooded property adjacent to his parents' in Montpelier before their daughter, Emily, began school.

He first worked for Gerety-Schultz and then as a computer programmer at NWOCA for the state of Ohio. He loved his programming occupation.

John was very active in community theater, and made many friends in and out of the theatre. He will be missed by a great number of people. One of his other favorite activities was spending time in Hocking Hills with his family. He was a wonderful father, and amazing Papa.

John is survived by his daughters, Emily (Bill) Cherry, Katherine (Joe) Tucker, Jennifer (Tony) Cochran, and Elizabeth Overberg; sisters, Bonnie (Ron) Murray, Marian (Rick) Mazur, Julie (Tom) Sparagowski, and Laurie (Bill) Oliver; also surviving are 7 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Overberg; parents, Francis and Dorothea Overberg; brother, Paul Overberg, and grandson, Drake Cherry.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road, Toledo, OH 43614, (419) 382-3456.
