I met Guy at Philadelphia Biblical University in 2006, later known as Cairn University. He was always encouraging. A very kind and gracious man. Guy was well respected, intelligent and full of love for the Lord. I will miss him. He finished the race and is now rejoicing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray God's peace and comfort for all who knew and loved him.

My condolences to Guy's family and friends. I played sports with him in junior high and high school. It is easy to echo the theme of sentiments running through the guest book. He was a man among men, always evincing a humble heart, quiet strength, and warm smile. So much more than a great athlete, through Christ, he has now more than conquered even death.

Guy T was my friend and neighbor in Emory Grove---the place where heroes are forged. He was made in some difficult and even supernatural circumstances. We played neighborhood baseball games and he was always a father figure even in his youth. God keep your family and rest in peace. Prayerfully we will meet again.

Guy, I would say I could not have had a better teammate that was so quiet and humble who played their heart out. Will always cherish that time. We know there is a greater team and more powerful coaching staff and teammates that needed you to win it all. As we all know we all get a chance to suit up together again. Your work is done here and now you can move into that beautiful room in the Mansion.
Rest In Peace

To the Prather Family I send my deepest sympathies and prayers, for comfort, peace, & understanding. I remember Guy as a hard hitting linebacker who played JV, until the last 2 weeks of the season when Mr. Harvill invited him to suit up with the varsity. From that point on I knew Guy was going to be a force to reckon with, both on the football field, as well as, the bball court. As I think back to this time I also recall Guy's humble nature. After reading through what others have written, it is easy to see that Guy's heart continued on in humility and kindness. Guy's victory over death because of the Spirit of Christ that lives in him, increases my hope in these things : And so with kindly affections in brotherly love I honor Guy for his fervent spirit in serving our Lord. Thank you Guy for your witness while on this earth, as well as for where you reside today and for evermore in the heavenly places---

I am truly saddened by the passing of Guy T. I graduated in 1975, and was fortunate to have played on the same field with an outstanding young man we always just called "Guy T." He played with emotions and compassion, not with his mouth. The Jacobs/King family gives our thoughts and prayers to your family. I know he is starting at middle linebacker with Coach Harvill in Heaven!! Mark

Condolences to the Prather family. Guy and I went to high school together. I would call him my tree because he was so tall and I am so short. We would share conservations regarding the Lord. So proud to call him my friend and everything he has accomplished here that will last a lifetime. I know he is with the Lord and now he's your brightest angel watching over you all. God Bless you all and RIP dear friend.

My sincere condolences to the Prather family. Gentle giant, G-Man, athlete, scholar, mentor, teacher, preacher, but most of all, a man of God whose spirit will continue remain in our hearts and in our memories. So grateful to have been his friend even after we left GSU. Remember his infectious smile and words of wisdom that he so eloquently shared. Till we meet again Guy!

A great man and example. He will be missed. See you in heaven Guy.Meanwhile your legacy remains in those here who carry the precious seed you've sown. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. For they rest from their labor; and there works speak for them.

April 26, 2016

My condolences go out to the entire Prather Family.
My relationship with Guy T started when we were in our early teens. When playing baseball against each other, I pitchedd a ball that hit Guy. He gave me that smile, and said, "That's ok Tuffy". Then while playing basketball at the the high school, he blocked my shot once, and I knew I wanted him on my team from that night on. Guy and Garland were inseparable when we grew up, because when you saw Guy, you were going to see Garland too.
Guy, I never knew how much you endured with your illness, but just like always you tackled it head on and in the end you're the winner.
Prather family, always remember " To be absent from the body, means to be present with the Lord". Rest In Peace Guy. Rest My Brother..

I met Guy while he was at South America Mission. Loved his easy going style. Of course being a Wisconsinite, his name sounded familiar. I was thrilled when Guy mentioned, in our first encounter, that he played for the Packers! It was a fast friendship from that moment. Rest in Peace Guy.

When I first met Guy, I was at Grambling St. You could see he wanted to be the best linebacker on the team. He was so focused, you had to try and emulate the way he went about his business. He inspired all of us to be our best! When he came to the Cowboys, I couldn't wait to invite him over for my moms cooking. He loved the food and she loved having him over. She was the first person he asked about the last time we talked. I'm just glad he knew Jesus so well before ha passed. Miss you and love Guy! RIP!

When I saw the picture in the Sunday newspaper, I knew immediately that I knew this person. I've not seen or talked with Guy in over 30 years, but when I saw his picture, the memories came flooding back. I attended junior and senior high school with Guy. We were teammates playing football, basketball, baseball and track together. What I remember most about Guy is the way he carried himself with such grace and humility. People around him looked up to him as a leader and role model. He was soft spoken, but his laughter was contagious. He made a huge impression on me during those formative years. I searched for more information on my long ago friend. I read with amazement and awe of his accomplishments in life..his NFL career, his corporate roles, and his mentoring of others. I am proud to have known Guy and will always remember him with great fondness and respect. My deepest sympathy and condolences go to all his family, friends and associates. Rest in peace, my friend.

I had the honor of knowing Guy at Rutgers. He was always friendly and willing to help people. Guy listened quietly but purposefully. He had a huge heart and was always humble. Since he left, we only reconnected in September 2015 and although it was short lived, I'm grateful to have had that communication. Rest in peace kind sir.

Memories of the red clay hills of Grambling Louisiana...We always loved and admired Guy Prather. I had the privilege (as a Sohomore in 1979) to cheer for Guy in his last semester. He was a "gentle giant" and a true G-Man. When I read a portion of an interview from Guy, he admirably mentioned Coach Rob and Doug Williams...two men who will always be honored by fellow Gramblinites of our era! Thank you Guy for never forgetting...5th Quarter.

Guy and I were friends for about 30 years. We shared good times and bad. No matter what happen we were there for one another. Guy had an effectuious laugh. I loved to hear him talk and laugh at the same time, you couldn't help but laugh with him. I remember how I teased him about his dog "Doc" I would call him "Puff" Guy and I would laugh, cause Doc would come to me like his name really was Puff. My memories are endless. I will miss his presence on earth. I remember the day he told me he had cancer like it was yesterday. I would text him just to let him know how much I loved him. RIP my love...u will never be forgotten!!

Guy, was my friend, teammate and classmate. Guy was a very special person as the appropriate and poignant obituary points out very well. Guy was never boastful, he always let his actions do the talking and they ROARED!!!!. I'll ALWAYS remember is quite and humble demeanor, Guy led by example. You get to know the true character of a person in the sports arena by the way they act and react in victory and defeat. Guy was a WINNER in every aspect, especially in the real game of life. Guy and I shared some special experiences together as Co-Captains of the football team our senior year and teammates in other sports as well. I've often reminisced about our experiences and have been able to share them over the years with many friends and individuals that new Guy and our teams.

While Guy is gone from us now (much to early) he will never be forgotten by the many lives he touched and influenced. My sincere and deepest condolences to Guy's family and so many friends that loved him dearly.
I'll never forget you "Pepper" your friend "Salt".

Guy T and i grew up together in Old Emory Grove! We attended the same high school and played for the same football coach! He was one of the best multi-talented athletes I ever saw! But he was better friend and human being! He will be truly missed, but never forgotten! To the family, The value of people does not rest in wealth they have accumulated, but in their love and relationships. It reflects on ways to enhance the time in the Dash such as slowing down, having more patience and being grateful! The poem " The Dash" suggest treating others better by being more respectful and pleasant!

Guy Prather was one of the Most Solid Brothers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As my teammate with the Green Bay Packers in the early 80's, loyalty is assumed and expected, but me, Guy and our teammate Rob Brown had a special East Coast bond and would connect often in the D.C. area during the off season. A proud, strong, intelligent brother Guy was a true friend and I am so glad I got to speak with him a couple of weeks ago before he enters his final resting place. The world lost a truly great person and a man with a wonderful Soul. R.I.P. my friend, my teammate, my Brother Guy Prather.

Guy Prather:
Always the strong silent type and let his actions on the field speak for themselves. A tremendous signing by Grambling State University in 1976. I personally always looked for him in those one on one drills; of course trying to dodge his wrath at linebacker. Although off the field very mild mannered and respectable to his teammates there was no doubt that if you had never seen a winner Guy Prather was a Winner. Of course in life and surely he be winning even in his afterlife. God speed on your salvation and thanks be it to the All Mighty for having known you in my lifetime. GSU now GSU forever #83 Guy Prather. MWM 4/23/16
