12 years of Catholic school did not prepare me for falling in love with my Jewish college classmate and deciding to marry. After a devastating meeting with the canon law priest in DC, who informed me that such a union was impossible within the Church, God steered me to Fr. Wintermeyer at GW who joined with AU´s Rabbi White to officiate at our ceremony and bless our marriage. Decades later, I discovered that Fr. Wintermeyer had obtained a dispensation to make sure I remained a Catholic in good standing. In October 2023, my husband and I will celebrate our 50th anniversary and we will bless the memory of the compassionate Fr. Wintermeyer, a truly good man.

What an amazing man and human being. My wife, Sherry, and I met Jack and Theresa when they hired us to care for their cat, Shirley. We bonded and had a great friendship for the last ten years. Jack and I did not see eye to eye on religion and that to some wonderful conversations. He had an amazing heart as well as an amazing intellect. I will miss those conversations dearly. The world needs more people like Jack who could bridge the divides that many of us have. Enjoy your journey amongst the stars my friend.

What an incredible human being! I´ve known him since 1969 at the University of Maryland Newman Center and George Washington University. He married my ex-wife and me and baptized our first born in 1982 and kept in touch with him through his years with Ed Guinen at D.C. soup kitchen. And later when he was a PA at the Washington Hospital Center. He will be missed.

Fr. Wintermyer was a warm and wonderful man. He taught religion to scores of girls at Immaculate Conception Academy and we loved him. His patience and sense of humor set an example for all of us. I was blessed to have known him.
