C. Rampone Obituary

LINCOLN – C. Frank Rampone, PE, 87, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (D'Agostino) Rampone.

He is survived by his two loving sons, David F. Rampone, and his wife, Belle, and Paul S. Rampone, PE, and his wife, Cindy, all of Lincoln; his loving grandchildren, Jennafer Rose, and her husband, Brendon, Daniel Rampone and his wife, Abby, and Benjamin, Alex, PJ and Jaime Rampone; and his beloved great-grandson, Max Rose. He is also survived by his two sisters, Melba Keough, and her husband, Joseph, and Patricia Lally, and her husband, Patrick, all of North Providence; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in North Providence, a son of the late Frank and Annunciata (Pate) Rampone, he had lived in Providence before moving to Lincoln 26 years ago. He also wintered in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for 26 years.

Frank was the chairman of Hart Companies of Cumberland. He was president of Hart Engineering Company when he purchased the firm in 1984. After purchasing Hart, he rebuilt the company into one of New England's leading suppliers of engineering and construction services to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and water treatment industries. His professional affiliations include being former president of the R.I. Association of General Contractors of America; life director of the National Associated General Contractors of America; and trustee of several local union employee Taft-Hartley benefit funds.

He was a graduate of North Providence High School, where he was a standout baseball and hockey player. He was a 1950 graduate of Rhode Island University, now URI, with a degree in civil engineering. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal.

An avid golfer, he was a 53-year member of Pawtucket Country Club where he enjoyed many happy days both on and off the golf course, and where he continued to shoot his age or lower even at the age of 84. At age 77, he shot a 65, and at age 82, he shot 70. He was a former vice president of the RIGA and a former USGA committee member. He had six career holes-in-one, and won the club Championship at age 53. He was a longtime member of Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.

He was a fixture at the athletic events of all his grandchildren. At age 70, he took up and mastered digital photography and videography, filming countless field hockey, baseball, football and soccer games, and provided treasured photos and video recordings not only to all of his grandchildren, but to most of their teammates as well. No game was too far away or too minor to attend.

Frank was a beloved and respected man in every aspect of his life.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory to the Miriam Hospital Cancer Center Nurses Education Fund, 164 Summit Ave., Providence, RI 02906 would be greatly appreciated.
