Passed away at home in Los Gatos on March 27, 2013, of melanoma. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Kathryn Vermilya Moore Cusick, their eight children Stephen, Anne, Eileen, Michael (Joyce) Joseph (Nanette), Mary, James (Michelle), and John (Eiko), 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation and a vigil prayer service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 4:30 pm at Darling-Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 6, at St. Mary's Church, 219 Bean Ave., Los Gatos, followed by a reception at the church hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Stanford Medical Center Cancer Institute or Hospice Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara.

In high school, (St. Ignatius H.S. Chicago, IL 1947) Joe was known as the "The Little Giant", but alas, there certainly was not any thing little about Joe, but he absolutely was a giant in all things good and proper.
